The seventh season of adult animated series Rick and Morty has been released, featuring new voice actors for the title characters.

This is the first season without co-creator Justin Roiland voicing both characters, although he’s still credited as executive producer. Roiland was axed from the roles by studio Adult Swim following allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

Rick is now voiced by Ian Cardoni and Morty by Harry Belden.

Early reviews suggest Rick and Morty has returned to form, although the season’s first episodes are standalone adventures rather than referencing the complex lore the series has built up over a decade, raising concerns the series is being “dumbed down”.

Rick and Morty season seven is streaming now on Netflix outside the US.
