Jennifer Lopez has suited up for her first sci-fi role in the movie Atlas. 

Lopez plays Atlas Shepherd, a brilliant data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence who joins a mission to capture a renegade robot. But when the mission goes wrong, her only hope of saving humanity from AI is to trust the robot that it she shares a mysterious past with. 

For anyone fearing more Netflix by-the-numbers sci-fi there are some reassuring signs. While director Brad Peyton is best known for a couple of average action films, writer Aron Eli Coleite has written for Star Trek: Discovery and the cast is pretty strong including Marvel’s Samu Liu and Sterling K Brown. 

If nothing else, there's always Jennifer Lopez in a mech.

Atlas hits Netflix on May 24.
