Marvel executive vice president and creative director Joe Quesada has announced his resignation via Twitter.

Though he hints at future collaborations with Marvel in addition to pursuing unrelated artistic endeavours.

As a viewer we've seen his name appear on screen so many times that like Stan Lee's, his is synonymous with Marvel.

We can't know exactly what his creative contributions have been but during his time with them Marvel transformed into a global film-making powerhouse and popularised the superhero genre.

He has our gratitude for whatever part he played in that and our best wishes for whatever he pursues next.
