New trailers have been released ahead of Rebel Moon’s premiere next month.

Part one of Zack Snyder’s sci-fi epic is called A Child of Fire, with part two – Scargiver – following in April.

The moon in question is Veldt, located in the furthest reaches of the known universe and populated by peaceful farmers and those escaping murky pasts for a quiet life. Among them is Kora (Sofia Boutella), seeking redemption for her role within an oppressive imperial government after crash-landing on the moon.

When farmers unwittingly sell crops to an anti-imperial insurgent group they attract the attention of the empire’s Motherworld and their peaceful existence is shattered. Kora finds herself rallying a band of outlaws and misfits to fend off the Empire’s forces.

As you’d expect from Zack Snyder the movie is visually epic and while there are some cues from Star Wars, including what appear to be light sabers and a droid protector (voiced by Anthony Hopkins), this is in no way a knock-off.

Rebel Moon will have a limited theatrical release in the US from December 15 before premiering on Netflix December 22.
