Fans were given a sneak peak at season 2 of animated series Star Trek: Prodigy at the recent STLV: 57 year mission event in Las Vegas.

Despite being cancelled by Paramount+ work has continued on the second season which was almost complete at the time of the cancellation announcement. Producers are confident they will find another platform for the series.

The former crew of the USS Protostar are now Starfleet cadets assigned to an internship under Admiral Janeway, who they got to know in hologram form during season one. But instead of being greeted by the Admiral in episode one they meet another holographic character – Voyager’s EMH Doctor.

They soon find themselves on Janeway’s new ship, the Voyager-A, a next generation version of the original Intrepid-class starship. It's been assigned to assess the wormhole created by the cadet’s self-destruction of the Protostar.
