Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johansen have teamed up for a fresh take on the original moon landing in Fly Me to the Moon.

The movie skirts dangerously close to conspiracy theory territory as NASA becomes concerned it’s losing the support of Americans in the lead up to the Apollo 11 lunar mission. Johansen’s marketing expert Kelly Jones is hired to lift NASA’s public image with interesting results.

When she discovers that NASA’s engineers refuse to do interviews she hires actors to play them at press conferences instead, including one hilarious scene where Tatum’s launch director Cole Davis unexpectedly meets his doppelganger.

Perhaps getting carried away, Jones also comes up with Project Artemis (not to be confused with NASA’s upcoming moon landings) as a back-up plan. She hires a sound stage to fake the moon landing if Apollo 11 fails or the Russians look like they’ll get there first.

Fly Me to the Moon is directed by Greg Berlanti with Tatum and Johansen joined by Woody Harrelson, Anna Garcia and Ray Romano. It hits cinemas July 12.
