Trainspotters and Jennifer Connelly fans alike have cause for celebration this week with the resurrection of rail-bound series Snowpiercer.

US network AMC has picked up the rights from TNT and announced the originally planned fourth and final season will be produced after all. TNT parent Warner Bros. Discovery unexpectedly cancelled the show at the end of the third season as a cost-cutting measure, leaving fans hanging.

Showrunner Paul Zbyszewski will be back along with most of the original cast, led by Daveed Diggs, Sean Bean and fan favourite Jennifer Connelly.

AMC has said it is aiming for Snowpiercer's final season to hit screens early 2025. Previous seasons are available in Australia on Stan, although no word yet on where the fourth season will end up.
