A documentary exploring the impact of long, isolated space journeys recently caught our eye.

The impact of extended space travel on the mental health of astronauts is being studied by NASA as it prepares for the possibility of manned missions to Mars. And it’s the underlying premise of the recently released movie Spaceman starring Adam Sandler.

Space: The Longest Goodbye follows rookie astronauts Kayla Barron and Matthias Maurer, ex-astronaut Cady Coleman and others as they work with NASA psychologist Al Holland to understand the limitations of the brain while training for a long mission in space.

The documentary has been doing the rounds of film festivals but is now available on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+ depending on the territory. In Australia it can be seen via Amazon Video channel DocPlay.
