Narrative adventure game Star Trek: Resurgence launched this week.

Set 20 years before the events of Star Trek Picard, the action alternates between two playable crew members of the USS Resolute – the first officer and a lower deck engineer.

The game is focussed on growing tensions between two species which has caught the attention of Ambassador Spock, who appears in an early briefing (and is uncannily well voiced). The player must help find a diplomatic solution while at the same time trying to solve a mystery underlying the game’s events.

The narrative is spread across 50 chapters, allowing players to chunk gameplay and enjoy the adventure at their own pace. While the story is shared the outcome will depend on choices made by players.

Key areas of the ship such as the bridge and engineering have been modelled so that players can freely roam.

Star Trek: Resurgence is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X & S and PC via Epic.
