A trailer has been released for live action series Star Wars: The Acolyte. 

It’s set a hundred years before the events of The Phantom Menace and follows jedi master Sol’s investigation of a crime spree that brings him into conflict with former padwan Mae, played by Amandla Stenberg. Sol is played by Squid Game's Lee Jung-jae, who learned English for the role. 

The studio describes The Acolyte as a mystery-thriller set amongst the shadowy secrets of the High Republic's final days, with the dark side preparing to emerge and seize control of the galaxy. It’s the first series or film to explore this period of the Star Wars timeline. 

The trailer has attracted plenty of interest with over 51 million views in its first 24 hours - a record for a Star Wars series. 

Star Wars: The Acolyte premieres on Disney+ June 4.
