The net worth of Chief Twit Elon Musk has dropped below $200 billion (US), a total loss of $70 billion since his Twitter bid.

His tweeting too much about Twitter had spooked some Tesla investors that badly.

SpaceX isn't publicly traded so can't be similarly affected, but with the space race now a commercial one rooted in the personal wealth and actions of three people, it is startling to consider the possibility that humanity's progress into the stars could be affected by simply tweeting about the wrong things.

Humanity will probably still get itself out there, but his shrunken personal wealth means that he has less to potentially shift into SpaceX and that could affect how the race plays out.
