The Matrix Deja Vu Trailer
Posted By:

Warner Bros. have released a new trailer for The Matrix Resurrections titled Deja Vu.

Again there also appears to be some additional footage released in international material, which might be related.

Related other than coming from the same film obviously.

Viewers of the original trilogy might recall that in the Matrix, deja vu - the sense of events having been seen before - occurs when something in the Matrix is altered. From this trailer:

Maybe this isn't the story we think it is.

In the new Japanese footage, there's Neo saying:

I never believed I was the One. But she [Trinity] did.

Trailers have a well earned reputation for misdirection. They don't want to give away the story before we see it. So maybe we shouldn't be reading into this.

Let's anyway.

Throughout the Deja Vu trailer there is footage of the original trilogy interspersed with footage from number 4. Also one slide of half of Neo's face with half of Trinity's and a few of their scenes spliced together.

With a significant chunk of the original trilogy being set it in a simulation and the Oracle eventually confessing that her prophecies were articles of hope rather than certainty, there is room for this film to mix things up and put a different spin on everything.

Whether Neo is really the One is just the most obvious potential candidate.

However, if this is just trailer misdirection, they've potentially set viewers up for disappointment if there isn't a revelation of Matrix-shattering proportions.

The Matrix Resurrections releases in Australian cinemas on December 26.
