Aliens Ahoy

In addition to the long anticipated Aliens TV series which last month we learned wouldn't commence shooting until after Fargo's season 5, 20th Century Studios have announced a new film.

Made for Hulu and with Don't Breathe writer and director Fede Alvarez to write and direct.

Don't Breathe was loved by critics, won a Saturn Best Horror Film Award and received a nomination for Best Sci-Fi/Horror Movie in the Critics' Choice Movie Awards.

On a modest budget it performed very well at the box office.

20th Century Studios' Steve Asbell had this to say about it being made for Hulu rather than theatrical release:

It’s not a film that has to be all things to all people with those gargantuan budgets. They get to be authentically what they are. And this is closer to its genre roots.

The first Alien film was a horror shot on a tight budget.

As with the recent commentary from Fox about the TV series, here again we see implied recognition of the failure of previous films and intent not to repeat those mistakes.

That's savvy PR and hopefully more than just that, i.e. a real commitment to reviving the franchise.
