Our focus being Australia, trailers for films which aren't releasing locally don't often show up on our radar.

But today being extra quiet on the trailer and news front, we cast our net a little wider and what came up was a Korean sci-fi film releasing in July called Alienoid.

We watched the Korean trailer and the special effects are top notch.

There's also an international trailer with English subtitles.

The synopsis:

The door of time opens between the swordsman who wants to seize the legendary divine sword at the end of the Goryeo Dynasty and those who chase after an alien prisoner imprisoned in a human body in 2022.

Definitely not a story we've heard before and this film is just part one of two.

Our first thought was - we have to keep an eye out for this one on streaming services.

Probably Netflix.

But Netflix having proven that western audiences will happily watch and enjoy high quality Korean content, eg. Squid Game, All of Us Are Dead, The Silent Sea, Hellbound, perhaps instead we should be expecting at least some Korean films to be dubbed into other languages and enjoy international cinematic releases.

Surely it's just a matter of time?

Alienoid releases on July 20 in Korean cinemas.
