With CD Projekt Red this week announcing their next game in The Witcher universe, we half-expected to also hear news about Netflix's Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series set in the same world as CDPR's Cyberpunk 2077.

Sure enough, a few articles appeared based on a tweet from the Netflix Geeked account.

That Hashtag Show were excited by what they thought was a newly unveiled synopsis, though we recognised it as a slight variation on one which had been released before.

CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS is an animated series from @CDPROJEKTRED + @trigger_inc that follows a street kid trying to survive in a tech and body mod-obsessed city of the future. With everything to lose, he chooses to become an edgerunner, a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk

Of far more interest was their report that the tweet included animation.

Because no footage has been shown previously.

Imagine our disappointment to find that the tweet had been deleted.

Also our puzzlement.

Why delete this?

It survives in the web archive and we can't see anything obviously wrong with it.

But via google we found an image of the animation, shown above.

The woman looks like she has antennae. That's not so much cyberpunk as it is alien.

While we don't recognise it as belonging to another series we're going to guess that it does.

Oops.

On the positive side we should probably expect to see actual Edgerunners footage soon.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will release this year on Netflix.
