Superhero satire The Boys spin-off Gen V will be back for a second season, Amazon has announced.

The series is set at Godolkin University, an academy for young supes and takes place after the events of The Boys season three.

In the current season we’re introduced to Marie Moreau (played by Jaz Sinclair), who can manipulate blood – usually to the dismay of whoever’s blood it is. Other students include Emma Myers (Lizzie Broadway), who can grow and shrink her size and Jordan Li, who can shift their gender and draw powers specific to each form. That character is played by two actors – London Thor and Derek Luh.

Much of the plot so far has focussed on psychic manipulator Cate, played by Maddie Phillips, who’s implicated in the suicide of her boyfriend Golden Boy in the premiere episode. Other mysteries to emerge include the discovery of The Woods, a secret facility underneath Godolkin where young supes are held captive and experimented on.

The Boys has never been shy about screening graphic violence and neither is Gen V, adding its own twists including exploding genitalia and a muppet massacre. Showrunners Michele Fazekas and Eric Kripke have promised an equally wild sophomore year for season two.

Season one of Gen V is streaming now on Amazon with the finale on November 3. Season two is expected late 2024.
