Lionsgate have released a new Moonfall teaser and there's a substantial reveal.

What makes the moon fall.

Previously it had been presented as a potentially natural albeit epic disaster:

A mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it.

This new teaser suggests that the moon is hollow and contains some kind of technology which seeks to annihilate humanity.

And the film's heroes have to pop inside and stop it.

That's potenially much more interesting, but also reminiscent of Independence Day. Popular with mainstream audiences but often panned by sci-fi fans for unbelievability.

We're going to guess that the moon won't be defeated by a computer virus.

Moonfall is due in Australian cinemas on February 3, 2022.
