20,000 Leagues Under the Seas prequel series Nautilus has been resurrected by AMC and will screen in 2024.

The 10-part series follows the origin story of the Jules Verne character Captain Nemo, embittered captain of the submarine Nautilus. It had been cancelled by Disney as part of cost-cutting measures after filming in Queensland, Australia had been completed.

Shazad Latif – last seen by sci-fi fans on Star Trek: Discovery - plays Nemo, an Indian prince who is taken prisoner by the East India Company and loses his position and family. Perhaps unsurprisingly he’s now bent on revenge, with a powerful vessel at his disposal.

No word yet on when exactly in 2024 Nautilus will air or whether streaming services outside the US will pick the series up, although AMC+ is available as an add-on channel for Amazon Prime in Australia.
