Paramount Reach Out
Posted By:

After Star Trek: Discovery unexpectedly vanished from Netflix recently just before season 4 was due to release, many viewers might have checked the Paramount+ listings in Australia, seen that Discovery wasn't there, and not thought to check again.

Then promptly proceeded to pirate it.

Paramount and Netflix are now competitors and our guess is that they didn't part on friendly terms.

Meanwhile Paramount has since released Discovery in countries where Paramount+ is available, eg. Australia, and made alternative arrangements elsewhere.

How could Paramount communicate this?

As luck would have it, Paramount+ was one of the original Prime Channels on Amazon (Australia's second biggest streaming service) and on December 3 they issued an email notification to Amazon subscribers about Discovery's new home.

In the case of Paramount+, curiously the monthly cost to subscribe through Amazon is $8.99 compared to $9.99 directly through Paramount.

Though because of the suddeness of their exit from Netflix, Paramount are offering a three month discount if you subscribe directly.

We are also offering Star Trek fans in these markets a new membership promotion on Paramount+ for 50% off for the first three months with code STARTREK.*

Valid only for new memberships and until December 15, 2021.

Amazon only has about half as many subscribers as Netflix so this email won't have reached all of their lost little sheep but might have guided a few back home.
