People have named former Captain America and Human Torch actor Chris Evans as 2022 Sexiest Man Alive.

Jane Campion infamously scoffed at grown men wearing tights, but she appears to be an extreme outlier. By our reckoning this is the fourth awardee who owes his fame to a superhero role.

Several other awardees have acted in prominent roles in superhero films which possibly contributed to their wins.

Australian Hugh Jackman is best known for his role as Wolverine in Fox's X-Men films.

He was 2008 SMA.

Two years later, Ryan Reynolds was 2010 SMA.

He had appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine as Wade Wilson alongside Hugh but at the time of winning had also appeared in and spoke of specifically training for two other superhero roles.

Hannibal King in Blade Trinity and Green Lantern's title role.

After the win there was also Deadpool.

His superhero DNA is as rich as it gets.

In 2014 another ozzie, Thor's Chris Hemsworth, nabbed the title.

Idris Elba rose to fame outside of superherodom but his appearance as Heimdall in several Marvel films may have contributed to his 2018 win.

Especially 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, one of Marvel's best.

Finally 2021's SMA was Paul Rudd, who like Idris was independently famous but may owe the win to a superhero role.

His as Marvel's Ant-Man.

When looking over last year's People Reader's Choice results, guess what we found?

A dedicated category for Sexiest Marvel Hottie, which Chris Evans won.

But wait, there's more.

No really.

Hugh Jackman won Sexiest Vaccine Selfie and Chris Hemsworth won Sexiest Eyes.

Not only is superherodom super sexy, Australia's stock may be the finest.
