Earlier in the week we learned that shooting for the next Star Wars film, helmed by Patty Jenkins, had been delayed.

But its ETA of December 22, 2023 hadn't, possibly indicating that someone else might be taking over that project.

This time it's Star Trek's turn.

We don't have many details about the next Star Trek film but it was due in US cinemas June 9, 2023.

That has been pushed back to December 23, 2023 - one day after Star Wars.

One of the known details is the director, Matt Shakman, of Wandavision. That gives us pause.

While Wandavision is being spruiked by critics and garnering awards, this is one of those severely detached from reality moments in entertainment.

Weirdly appropriate to the title.

Wandavision attempts to emulate a recognisable style and tone which is good. And fails. It's in the general vicinity of excellence but definitely on the outside looking in.

That applied to a Star Trek film could be unfortunate.
