Following the nasty and disappointing surprise of Star Trek: Prodigy recently joining other new Trek shows in retconning the Prime Directive, there's been a bigger surprise.

In the Star Trek: Picard Stargazer comic book epilogue, Kathryn Janeway and Seven of Nine reunite.

Just for a brief chat in the epilogue of the final book but the history between the actors who played these characters is infamous.

Kate Mulgrew abused Jeri Ryan on the set of Star Trek: Voyager.

That's not in dispute.

Some attribute it to jealousy.

Others to showrunners / execs breaking a promise made to Kate about the tone of the show being non-sexual.

Following original Janeway film actress Genevieve Bujold's inability to adjust to the faster pace of shooting for television.

Star Trek should definitely be above characters like Seven of Nine and T'Pol but also above trying to deny others the ability to urinate.

This case and also that of Jensen Ackles and Jessica Alba on the set of Dark Angel stand in stark contrast to the accepted narrative of most forms of abuse.

Men raining down evil on women.

But are never a part of that conversation.

With Seven's role in Picard, new Star Trek shows in development and much chatter about Kate also possibly making a return to live-action Janeway, this comic epilogue could be foreshadowing a live-action reunion.

Which would be difficult without addressing their history.

Making it a part of that conversation.

Hot potato!

Would also be very much in the spirit of Star Trek.

Former combatants making peace and working together.

Though for our tastes Voyager was great but had way too much Seven.

So she's the real Trek character we least want to see more of.
