Nominations for the next category in the Ion Sci-Fi Screen Awards – the Ions – have been released.

This category is Best Character, which is unique to the Ions. A sci-fi character is nominated rather than the actor playing them. So it would be Captain Kirk nominated in this category, rather than William Shatner, for example.

The award recognises the development, writing and portrayal of the character – so the actor is still important, but the category also includes C-G-I generated characters and even inanimate objects.

Nominations are across both TV series and films that were released during the year ending May.

Rocket Racoon – Guardians of the Galaxy 3

Vecna – Stranger Things season 4

Predator – Prey
