Vulcan's Hammer

Move over Star Trek. There's soon to be a new Vulcan on the sci-fi block.

Francis Lawrence, director of The Hunger Games, is now set to direct a film adapation of Philp K. Dick's Vulcan's Hammer.

Never heard of it? Same.

Many would recognise the author's name from Blade Runner. Its original film adaptaton is now regarded as a sci-fi classic and the more recent film was also quite good.

On casual inspection, however, it appears that we might not be able to expect the same from this title. Its wikipedia entry describes it as pulp fiction. His last before moving on to more honoured works.

A read of the plot - which we won't share in case you don't want anything spoiled - reveals that there isn't much nuance in this one.

Though its central theme is potentially topical right now and the film could be interesting.
