Seth MacFarlane has tweeted slightly bad news with a delay to season 3 of The Orville: New Horizons. Previously scheduled for March 10 it has been pushed back to June 2.

Good news to go with the bad, he has shared a sneak peak.

Sneak peak spoilers follow.

It opens with Union and Krill vessels engaged in a major battle against the Kaylon then cuts to a ship interior where Marcus, Dr Finn's elder son, is running furiously.

Run run run... eventually makes it to his family quarters where brother Ty is watching the battle outside.

Then they turn around and see Isaac behind them.

Whose eyes change color to bad-Isaac red and then his face morphs to show big scary monster teeth.

So probably probably a nightmare.

Interestingly there's also a completely new opening sequence including the "New Horizons" addition to the show's title.

While the possibility of a fourth season is still officially unknown, two main cast members had stated in podcast interviews that the show was over.

New title and opening sequence for a show which has been canned? Why bother?

Maybe at some point The Orville did seem destined for the dustbin but plans changed.

There is certainly appetite for more.

Season 3 of The Orville was long ago announced as coming to free-to-air channel SBS but in the interim Disney acquired Hulu and launched their own streaming service which is currently home to the first two seasons of The Orville.

Until SBS announce an air date we have to consider the possibility that Disney might try to buy season 3 back.
