Your Name in Space

It's not the same as actually going of course but NASA are offering to take your name on a flash drive into space aboard Artemis I's uncrewed Orion test flight and fly it around the moon.

You only need to provide your name and set a pin code.

Touching the Stars

NASA have reported a major achievement. Their Parker solar probe has flown through the sun's upper atmosphere and sampled particles and magnetic fields.

They've released a short and fascinating 5 minute video about the project and what we've already learned from it.

DART Launch

NASA's Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission launched successfully.

You can watch the entire 2 hour NASA livestream or skip foward to the launch just after the 50 minute mark.

DART Launch Imminent

It looks like the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) will make its first launch window. NASA have advised via twitter that it will launch at 5:21 pm AEDT with live coverage commencing at 4:30 pm AEDT.

NASA have also released a short video of Adam McKay, director of Don't Look Up, comparing his movie to the mission.

NASA have released a short, one minute video describing their imminent Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART).

Their first launch window is November 24.

Hubble Bubble Toil & Trouble

NASA have published a new image from the Hubble Space Telescipe showing a 250 light-year wide bubble inside a nebula.

They have a few ideas about what might have caused it but none which completely add up according to our present understanding of giant space explosions.

Planet Outside our Galaxy

NASA may have discovered  the first evidence of a planet outside of the the Milky Way.

In the Messier 51 (M51) Whirlpool Galaxy.

It's an exciting discovery but more data is required to confirm the planet candidate's location and the method use here may not be viable again for another 70 years because of its wide orbit.

Where Would You Explore?

NASA have thrown this question at everyone with a new Visions of the Future video.

In the accompanying tweet they ask:

At least as important as the spacefaring rockets and satellites is the explorer and the inspiration to make the journey.

Where would you explore? The methane lakes of Titan? The two-sun skies of exoplanet Kepler 16b? Or a world not yet known?
