Reports earlier this month indicated that shot in Victoria sci-fi drama La Brea had been renewed for a third and likely final season. Shorter courtesy of an impending writer's strike.
Showrunner David Applebaum now contradicts those reports.
Filmed in Australia sinkhole sci-fi drama La Brea isn't a show we'd call great. We couldn't make it through the first episode. Critics also don't love it.
But it continues to rate not terribly on US network television and in later streaming. Enough to be renewed for a third season.
The federal goverment has issued a press release detailing that season 2 of sci-fi sinkhole drama, La Brea, will pump $118 million into the Australian economy when it is filmed in Victoria.
In terms of ratings it seems to have been a big hit in the US and was renewed for a second season before the first had finished airing.
Shot in Melbourne and regional Victoria, it's a special effects heavy sci-fi drama in which a whole bunch of people get sucked into a sinkhole and become trapped in a primeval land.
