Deadline report that AMC have announced the go ahead for sci-fi comedy drama, Demascus.
We do enjoy a laugh and don't mind mixing that with sci-fi.
Tell us more.
Demascus follows Demascus, a 33-year-old Black man on a mission of self-discovery and the burgeoning field of digital psychiatry that might be the key to defining his truest self. The series is a comedic, genre-fluid, coming-of-age story with a reality-bending premise that explores the gulf between Black male perspectives, while also attempting to answer Demascus’ personal question: “Who am I?”
So it sounds like it's in similar territory to Being Erica which was delightful.
Not space sci-fi but a bit "out there" metaphysically speaking.
The executive producer is Mark Johnson who has a very impressive work history but the one which leaps out is Galaxy Quest.
Has there been a more successful marriage of sci-fi and comedy?
Our expectations are through the roof.
Demascus is presently expected to release in 2023 on AMC and AMC+.
AMC+ is available in Australia as a subscription on the Apple TV and through Amazon Prime Video Channels and some AMC titles are also available on other streaming services.
