Disney Dick Move

We hope you'll pardon our vulgar language but as they say in the classic Disney Cinderella tale, the shoe fits.

With the original Avatar film returning to cinemas ahead of the sequel's premiere in December, Disney have sneakily pulled Avatar from Disney+.

The streaming market may have plateaued with Netflix this year experiencing its first quarterly loss of subscribers.

Piracy is on the rise again.

In the US Disney are significantly raising subscription fees, with similar increases expected to follow globally.

Now they're snatching away content in a bullish attempt to force their subscribers into cinemas.

Oh my. The laughter.

The one thing content providers never want to do is give people an excuse to pirate.

This qualifies as the perfect excuse.

And possibly more than just that.

While there might be the standard content is subject to change languages in their terms of service, subscribers would have a reasonable expectation of the continued availability of major content like Avatar.

Content being pulled because licenses expire or it attracts too few viewers to justify the expense is understandable.

This is not.

Gave us a giggle though and something easy to write about, so cheers Disney.

Reportedly Avatar will return to Disney+ before the sequel premieres in cinemas.

Even if you don't succumb to their diabolical plan they obviously still want you to rock up to cinemas for the sequel, and the first film being handily available on Disney+ serves that end.
