A Dune-themed expansion pack has been released for Microsoft Flight Simulator that allows pilots to try their hand at flying one of the ornithopters seen in Denis Villeneuve’s movie adaptations.

The ornithopter flies using four pairs of oscillating wings, giving it the appearance of a giant insect. The version offered as part of the free expansion pack is the Royal Atreides ornithopter, “…a special ultra-performance variant of the craft, renowned for its lightning acceleration, blazing speeds, and precision maneuverability.”

Pilots will be able to choose from a number of Dune-themed challenges including the Coriolis Storm Escape mission featured in the expansion pack’s launch trailer.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is available on Windows PC and Xbox Series X|S.
