With the recent release of the latest expansion for online roleplaying game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, we thought it interesting to see something which looks like a lightsaber in the expansion trailer for another online game, Destiny 2.

Then again in trailers for Netflix's upcoming film The Adam Project. Including an explicit lightsaber reference.

In relation to The Old Republic we remarked that perhaps their glorious cinematic trailer might be doing the game a disservice on one level.

Actual gameplay includes flashing lightsabers buts its combat controls and mechanics are both more sedate and dated.

Especially compared to the likes of fantasy roleplaying game Elden Ring about which there is presently much buzz.

We joked:

But there are no lightsabers in Elden Ring!

Too soon, did we speak.

Using the Bloodflame Blade incantation on a twin-blade doesn't produce a double-bladed lightsaber exactly - its appearance is more enflamed - but it does remind one of Darth Maul.
