Free Range Andor
Posted By:

Disney are releasing the first two episodes of their latest Star Wars series, Andor, for free (for a limited time) on several other Disney owned US free-to-air networks or subscription channels.

Since the promotion is limited to Disney owned services we wouldn't expect to see it extended to us in Australia.

But it's still interesting.

We thought all of Andor's trailers looked superb, but are super over the toxic fan-bashing false racist narrative.

If it weren't our job, we wouldn't have even bothered watching any of the promos.

Our first thought was - is this a clever promotion?

Locking away content behind a subscription is obviously a moneymaker but people have to know what they're missing out on by not being subscribed.

Not every series or film lives up to its trailer but if this one does, it could be a good one to tease people with.

Seems not.

Rather Andor appears to be struggling to attract viewers on Disney+.

Maybe the down / dark side to relying on cheap tactics like the baby faced Grogu is that minus that crutch, everything else will be left hobbling.

Said crutch features in a new animated short released last week.
