Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu as villainous villainesses has the potential to be interesting but we don't see much of them here.

That pair have the talent to match Cate Blanchett's Hela from Thor: Ragnarok but we don't think it likely they're working with a script of the same calibre.

So Cate's rep as the best and baddest goddess in superherodom is probably safe.

It looks like the release date was slightly delayed again in April which for Australia saw it bumped clear into next year.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods premieres in Australian cinemas on January 5.
