A few weeks ago we talked about an expansive and moderately glowing Nerdist review of some parts of (it was reportedly unfinished at the time) Disney's Galactic Starcruiser immersive holiday experience.

Disney have now released an official trailer and not everyone has been blown away by it.

Gizmodo's impression is right there in their title.

Take a Peek at Disney World's Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser, Save $6,000

We watched the trailer first then read their thoughts on it.

The first thing you should know about this video is that it stars Disney Parks Imagineer Ann Morrow Johnson and The Goldbergs’ sitcom actor Sean Giambrone. The two take a very short tour of the Starcruiser, but instead of them just talking like normal people about what people who come to the Halcyon can expect, it’s scripted and painfully unfunny.

Everyone would expect nearly every moment of video ever published is scripted up to and including many "reality" titles.

Maybe even especially those.

But yes, this Disney pair don't talk like normal people.

It is painfully exaggerated.

Possibly this is deliberate. It could be aimed at children with the intention of getting kids excited about it and relying on them pestering their parents into booking a trip.

Disney have a big kids audience. We haven't watched a huge amount of children's television but the tone of this trailer is something we've seen before there.

However this product is supposed to be an immersive experience, i.e. realistic. This trailer gives the opposite impression.

It should be noted that this weekend experience appears to be "new" Star Wars. Nerdist talked of the enemy being The First Order, not The Empire.

He asked one of us to distract the First Order with a patriotic salute.

That potentially alienates a lot of fans who don't care for the new stuff, though if Disney wanted flexibility in that department it would just be a matter of slight variations in costume and dialog to accomodate all tastes.

What this trailer might indicate is that instead Disney's strategy - at least for this attraction - will be to focus on kids.

An audience who haven't and may never see the older Star Wars content which Disney have arguably mistreated.
