In a move which feels a bit like shouting into a storm, Netflix has released a trailer for a new mobile game Into the Dead 2: Unleashed - Ghostbusters, up against the opening night of this year's Gamescom.

On top of that, this is the single most confusing game trailer we've ever encountered.

The video begins with Ghostbusters action, text describes a "special two-part event" then there's more Ghostbusters and then some zombie apocalypse shooter.

What?

Read their description:

Do whatever it takes to save your family and survive the zombie apocalypse in this ultimate action shooter. Now play alongside your favorite Ghostbusters characters to fight ghouls! How far will you go to make it out alive?

Still head-scratching.

Hold onto your hats.

The explanation is not short.

So Into the Dead 2 is a mobile zombie apocalypse shooter which includes microtransactions, as many such games do.

Made by New Zealand developer PikPok.

Netflix seemingly bought it, stripped it of microtransactions and re-released it as Into the Dead 2 Unleashed in March.

This game shares the same storyline and lore as the original, Into the Dead 2, with some differences to game mechanics, such as the removal of in-app purchases.

So that's a game.

The original Into the Dead 2 included multiple add-ons and one of those was a Ghostbusters themed event, which Netflix are now releasing for Unleashed.

Having cleared that up, we'll muddy the waters again by introducing a similarly named Ghostbusters PC and consoles game Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed.

Approaching release, they are also presently circulating promotional material and it would be easy to get them confused.

Into the Dead 2: Unleashed and its Ghostbusters addon can be downloaded now on Android or iPhone by Netflix subscribers.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed - a completely different game - is scheduled to launch on October 18 on PC, Xbox and PlayStation.
