We now have a trailer for Marvel's upcoming animated shorts series I Am Groot.

One of our most frequent complaints about Hollywood is recycled dialog. What can we say about this one?

When your main character can only repeat the same three words throughout, comedy has to get visual.

And this trailer looks good.

Don't know that it'll make us hoot but we anticipate at least light chuckling.

However, our inner cynical bastard wonders if Disney might be pushing their luck with a second cutesy infant character.

Star Wars' Grogu - a.k.a. Baby Yoda - is a tragically desperate ploy to wring some merchandising dollars out of the troubled franchise.

Sometimes you can get away with a single instance of something like this but introduce more and people can't but help to see the pattern.

Like Star Trek's large breasted, tight-wearing, emotionless Seven of Nine was a bit suspect in Voyager but could be graciously overlooked by many fans.

Essentially clone her character in Enterprise in the form of Vulcan T'Pol and it's very difficult not to be cynical.

That said we love Groot.

Big and small.

So will be watching this one.

I Am Groot is a collection of five animated shorts which begins streaming on Disney+ on August 10, with an additional five in development.
