Legacy Marvel

At the Brazil Comic Con, Marvel showed a new "special look" titled The Legacy of Ant-Man.

It's about two thirds looking back and one forward at the upcoming Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.

Most of the footage from the next film isn't new.

We've seen it in earlier promos.

But in this promo we might see some indication of what Marvel were thinking in cutting short phase four, which is widely regarded as not their best work.

This Legacy of video isn't just about reminding people of what happened in earlier films.

It's about stitching this film directly to Avengers: Endgame, which was the end of phase three and probably the peak of their popularity.

We wouldn't say performance, regarding several earlier films as better.

Smart.

They're making no admissions about weakness, which is common in the public relations game, but shifting the phase four finish line allows them to promote upcoming films and series as continuations of pre phase four entries.

Only the Agatha: Coven of Chaos series derives from phase four.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania lands in Australia cinemas on February 16.
