US network NBC have renewed the still not available in Australia Quantum Leap continuation.

Following lacklustre reviews, this one is mildly surprising.

We've seen many decent and even great sci-fi shows killed in infancy for failing to draw a big enough crowd to please advertisers.

But NBC now has their own streaming platform - in the US, not here - called Peacock and of the limited viewer data they shared, the best relates to that:

“Quantum Leap” is NBC’s best-ever drama launch on Peacock and is the #2 new broadcast show of the season in the 18-49 demo.

The cut-throat days of US network television probably aren't over, but new shows now get a second chance to prove their worth.

Having been renewed for a second season, maybe we'll also see one of our free-to-air networks pick it up.
