La Brea Off La Block

Reports earlier this month indicated that shot in Victoria sci-fi drama La Brea had been renewed for a third and likely final season. Shorter courtesy of an impending writer's strike.

Showrunner David Applebaum now contradicts those reports.

La Brea Renewed

Filmed in Australia sinkhole sci-fi drama La Brea isn't a show we'd call great. We couldn't make it through the first episode. Critics also don't love it.

But it continues to rate not terribly on US network television and in later streaming. Enough to be renewed for a third season.

US network NBC have renewed the still not available in Australia Quantum Leap continuation.

Following lacklustre reviews, this one is mildly surprising.

Catch Up

Post several major gaming conventions and also separeate developer showcases, it has been a very slow but not completely unremarkable week for sci-fi.

Quantum Leap Trailer

US TV network NBC have released a trailer for their upcoming revival of Quantum Leap.

Very helpfully explaining the show's premise, mechanics, rules and so forth.

Quantum Leap Update

In addition to a US September 19 premiere date, more information about the plot of the Quantum Leap revival has been shared.

We already knew that this won't be a reboot in the sense of pretending like the original series never happened and reimagining it with the same or new characters.

Quantum Leap Go Ahead

The Quantum Leap reboot has leapt ahead of the competition to be the first of this year's US Network pilots to get a series order, i.e. season 1 production has been approved.

NBC made the announcement 29 years to the day after the final episode of the original show aired in the US.

Quantum Leap Director

Helen Shaver has been selected to direct NBC's pilot of the Quantum Leap "reboot".

Though it might be more accurate to call it a revival. This is a thirty-years-later continuation of the original series not a throw it all away and do it all again thing.

La Brea Renewed

TV Insider reports that NBC has renewed La Brea.

Shot in Melbourne and regional Victoria, it's a special effects heavy sci-fi drama in which a whole bunch of people get sucked into a sinkhole and become trapped in a primeval land.
