Following their recent announcement of developing a TV series with Netflix, there have been two big developments in the Horizon Zero Dawn franchise this week.

Sequel Horizon Forbidden West has received a major update including new game plus, an appearance transmog feature and the ability to redistribute ability points. Also a new game Horizon Call of the Mountain has been announced with a trailer.

While Zero Dawn and Forbidden West both featured the same female protagonist Aloy, Call of the Mountain introduces a new male character Ryas.

That's a noteworthy choice.

Our preference is for games which allow you to create your own character as you please but there's been a major push in recent years to reduce the number of white male protagonists in video games.

At least based on the player's hands, Ryas appears to be caucasian.

Horizon Forbidden West is available now on Playstation.

Horizon Call of the Mountain is in development and presently has no ETA.
