Disney have released a teaser for their upcoming series, Obi-Wan Kenboi.

It's mostly interview footage and artwork.

Beginning with Ewan McGregor saying:

There's a hunger for this character to come back.

There's hunger for a return to former times, certainly, and his character personifies that. So yeah, maybe.

But later he says:

Have another swing at each other. It might be quite satisfying for everybody.

He's referring to Anakin / Vader played by Hayden Christensen and grinning broadly at the idea of engaging in more swordplay.

Many commenters are taking issue with this contradicting Episode IV:

I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you I was but the learner. Now, *I* am the master.

Also while Ewan and Hayden may enjoy working together, the breakdown and ultimately fatal end to the relationship between their characters is tragic.

Especially to Star Wars fans who haven't just seen the films, but also Clone Wars, which shows these two characters during their good years.

His grin and enthusiasm at the idea of more violent conflict between them could come across as completely tone deaf.

The writing for their first live-action TV series, The Mandalorian, is excellent. It's worlds above some of the films.

But there are moments like this where fans might wonder if the producers really understand the characters and the world and the fans who love them.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will stream on Disney+ some time in 2022.
