Secret Headquarters

Paramount have released a trailer for their upcoming my-dad's-a-secret-superhero film Secret Headquarters.

While hanging out after school, Charlie and his friends discover the headquarters of the world’s most powerful superhero hidden beneath his home. When villains attack, they must team up to defend the headquarters and save the world.

Interestingly it had been slated for cinematic release but in June they decided to send it straight to Paramount Plus.

And here we've been saying Disney is moving fast bringing their films to streaming less than two months after cinematic release with first Doctor Strange and then Lightyear.

Secret Headquarters' trailer looks quite good for a kids / family film.

We make this point often - trailers can't always be trusted.

Sometimes a well cut trailer can outshine the film.

Is this a secret dud?

If not, why straight to streaming?

Paramount has had a ripper year in cinemas with Top Gun: Maverick which released at the end of May just prior to this announcement.

Perhaps resting comfortably on a great big pile of box office takings they decided to invest this one in their streaming service.

One of those kids in the trailer looked familiar - Walker Scobell from Netflix's The Adam Project.

Another sci-fi kids / family film with a big Hollywood name in the lead adult role which was a top 10 film on that service globally for eight weeks.

Maybe Paramount are trying to tap the same vein and repeat its success.

Secret Headquarters releases on Paramount Plus on August 12.
