In an interview with British radio station Radio X Karl Urban has repeated the line we've all heard many times before - the next Star Trek film is happening and there's still no script.

What's new? Matt Shakman who is set to direct the film has just signed on to executive produce a new Godzilla live-action series for Apple.

In February Paramount boldly announced that they were entering into negotations with cast, would begin shooting this year (US Fall, i.e. September to November), and release in December the next.

Three and a half months later there's still no script, Chris Pine won't sign on without seeing one first and the film's director has just committed to executive produce a new series and direct its first two episodes.

He could theoretically executive produce Godzilla and direct Star Trek simultaneously so this doesn't definitively rule out Star Trek moving ahead as planned.

But he may have accepted the Godzilla gig knowing that Star Trek might not be ready to film this year with his fallback plan being to direct the full series.
