The PC port of originally PS5 exclusive The Last of Us Part I has been delayed from March 3 to March 28 for the standard want-the-game-to-be-its-best reason.

Could there be other reasons? Always possible but to our eye this short delay probably won't make much difference.

HBO's (here on Binge) The Last of Series is seriously killing it with critics and viewers alike.

Typically we'd predict a game release would benefit from a parallel series but in this case, the series is an almost identical story to the game.

Certain aspects have been fleshed out or added.

If you've seen the series, you'll see almost nothing different in the game.

You'll just experience it in a different medium.

Speaking personally, we enjoy gaming and the series is awesome but we really don't enjoy repetition.

For example we hate New Game Plus - a game mechanic where you have the option to replay a game with a hook like allowing you to continue character growth in some respect.

In our wee little head that's garbage.

Having just played the story, seeing it again is horrifically repetitive and experiencing the same story more than once detracts from the sense of immersion.

We did it once with Gotham Knights and it spoiled the game for us.

Had enjoyed it and was open to their broad end-game plan but that second run through the story was 30'ish hours of pure chore.

At the end of which we just wanted to not play the game.

For so long that we never went back to it.

What's next to play?

So we look at this upcoming PC port as shelling out money to see a shorter version of the story we've just watched.

Maybe some people would love that.

New Game Plus is a mechanic some people are into.

But for us it's an easy pass.

Playing the game and then watching the series with its substantial additional content would be a different matter.

Speaking to the delay, the original release date was before the final two episodes and is now a few weeks after the last.

From story mostly seen / spoiled to all of it.

Though giving Hogwarts Legacy players another month to grow bored with that might be a smart move.

That releases next week, appears to include a huge amount of content and early signs to point to very strong sales.

The Last of Us Part I is releasing on PC (Steam and Epic) on March 28 and available now on PS5.
