The Orville S3

Hulu has dropped a trailer for The Orville: New Horizons (aka season 3) and it looks like more magnificant content from a show which has quickly become a fan favourite.

The good news continues - SBS On Demand have announced that they're fast-tracking its release in Australia for June 3, which will effectively be same day as the US.

After Disney bought Hulu we wondered if they might try to buy back season 3 rights from SBS.

For the sake of those who don't subscribe to Disney+ we're glad that didn't happen, even if that means we with our Disney+ subscription have to suffer through advertisements on SBS.

That's how nice we are.

Also how much we love this show.

Which this year will be different in more than just name.

Fewer episodes - 11 - but each will be longer, by up to 15 minutes.

Newly rescued by Amazon, The Expanse season 4 experimented with longer episode lengths - which coincides with The Orville's announcement to try the same - to poor effect.

Though maybe The Orville will do better. This could be an interesting experiment in television format.

The Orville: New Horizons will premiere on SBS on Demand on June 3 with new episodes releasing weekly.

Seasons one and two of The Orville are available now on SBS on Demand and also Disney+.
