US Super Bowl Trailers

You may or may not know but advertisements during the annual US Super Bowl (football final) are a big deal. Trailers are also on the menu which we'll visit indivually.

But before we go there it's worth mentioning that according to Variety two sci-fi film trailers nabbed 3rd and 4th positions in YouTube gameday views - Jurassic World Dominion and Nope.

Jurassic World Dominion is easy to appreciate. That's a long-running and extremely popular franchise.

Nope is a little surprising.

We hadn't even heard of it but apparently it has been much hyped with very few details made available until this trailer.

That might account for some intensity of interest.

What's also surprising is that they beat Marvel's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Moon Knight. Neither appeared in Variety's top 9.

Looking at YouTube's Super Bowl ad list today - the same one Variety used - they appear to be ranked by number of views and Doctor Strange's ad has a measly 159 thousand views in 64th place.

Meanwhile Marvel also simultanously released a full trailer for the film and it has just under 25 million views which beats Nope's trailer with 7.3 million.

So this particular ranking doesn't appear to capture real interest terribly well and also doesn't account for views of these trailers on other channels.
