A new developer with absolutely no information about themselves on their website - just an email address inviting you to ask them questions and an outdated 2018 copyright notice giving us some indication of their age - has unveiled Void Crew.

A co-op space ship simulator which allows you (and friends) to walk around, customise and operate your vessel. The trailer has a decidedly comedic slant.

Embark on the most advanced spacecrafts ever built, and journey into deep space on thrilling missions that you and your crew absolutely never trained for! Asteroid storms, solar flares and your buddies’ screw-ups will be the least of your worries, as hostile aliens, and desperate human scavengers push your crew to their limits.

Pilot the ship, man the turrets, perform emergency repairs, recharge the power cells, utilize space station weaponry, fabricate munitions and exit the ship on extravehicular missions - be it patching the ship hull or scavenging derelict wrecks.

There are some but not many co-op spaceship sims.

Both in terms of graphics of gameplay this looks like one of the more ambitious ones.

Interesting to see it revealed now and releasing this year but no firm date.

Though all very different games, we'd guess they'll try to release after sci-fi fans have grown bored with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (launching April 28) but before they can get their hands on Starfield (launching September 6).

Do we hate to nitpick?

Perhaps not truly.

These developers have a publisher and they're a relatively big one, Focus, who we imagine should be checking these things.

From their Steam page description:

Teamwork is key: pick a role and prioritize your most urgent tasks with your crew... or try to do everything at once and just wing it as you’ll be short on reliable manpower!

We're guessing the "short on reliable manpower!" is intended to be an amusing jab at we the player's reliability / efficacy but even a competent individual would be "short on reliable manpower" performing the work of four.

Maybe something is lost in translation. That's often the way with comedy. They're Dutch.

This one made us go cross-eyed:

.... and don’t forget to go full fashion victim and customize your character's spacesuit to fly in style and boldly go where you probably shouldn’t have!

Aren't "fashion victim" and "in style" mutually exclusive?

It reads like this sentence was constructed minus the fashion victim bit, then someone shoved it in to inform us that the game allows you to be horrendously unfashionable.

Which some people enjoy and we don't judge them for that.

This sentence on the other hand...

Imperfections like this normally wouldn't be a red flag but as we said, comedy truly is often lost in translation and these errors in its description could be indicative of similar problems in the game.

Void Crew is releasing on PC (Steam) this year.
