Sony have released the transformation scene from their upcoming vampire film, Morbius.

We see a female doctor strapping him into a chair and administering his treatment.

Morbius loses consciousness and the doctor settles in to watch him.

Then we see a guard mistreating her. Verbally, eg. calling her a nurse.

Super obvious what's going to happen to him.

Yes, breakfast.

Morbius transforms.

The doctor locks Morbius and already doomed breakfast in the cell.

Alarms having sounded other guards arrive and tell her to move out of the way. The monstrous threat in the cell eating their fellow guard is clearly visible.

She doesn't and tells one to put his gun down. He pushes her out of his way and she hits her head on some equipment and falls unconscious.

Super obvious what's going to happen.

Yes, they all die horribly.

Morbius escapes the cell, looks at her unconscious on the floor, then slaughters them all.

Again looks at her unconscious on the floor. Growls, then escapes that room and continues the slaughter throughout the ship.

Narratively, obviously they want audiences to feel less sympathetic towards anti-hero Morbius' victims but this device strikes an uneasy chord.

And it's been done to death.

Morbius releases on January 27 in Australian cinemas.
