US Network CW have cancelled Batwoman after its third season.

While it might be tempting to interpret this in the context of Ruby Rose's controversial departure following season 2 we're more inclined to see this as part of a bigger picture.

The CW's DC superhero shows have mostly been decidedly B grade.

Arrow was excellent for the first few seasons but it and its various spinoffs have all been budgeted and pitched at a level far below most of their Marvel counterparts.

Marvel and also Game of Thrones have demonstrated the potential profitability of high production quality genre content.

DC's Peacemaker, which debuted in January on HBO, is excellent and performed very strongly.

Maybe DC (who co-own CW) would prefer to wrap up these leftover from an earlier, cheaper era titles and try to compete on Marvel's level with new and shinier ones.
