Black Adam Trailer
Posted By:

DC have released the trailer for upcoming film Black Adam which had previously been shared exclusively with CinemaCon attendees in April.

Said trailer sparked controversy over two lines:

Hawkman (possibly): Heroes don't kill people.

Black Adam: Well I do.

We have no experience with this character ourselves but understand that his history is more murderous than the average superhero's.

Dwayne Johnson who plays Black Adam responded to criticisms with:

Once you watch Black Adam you’ll understand the context of the line. It makes sense. The mythology of Teth/Black Adam. Ruthless with zero regard.

Obviously we haven't seen the film yet but even just within the trailer, we can see his character change.

Slave.

Dead.

Ruthless god.

Then he's told that he has to make about what he will be to the world - destroyer or saviour.

In the final scene we see him save two people.

If you're determined to be outraged you could cherrypick the two lines which sparked controversy and get your knickers in a twist but in the context of the whole trailer they appear to form part of a very different picture.

Black Adam premieres in Australian cinemas on October 20.
